10-31-11 - I ordered a corner unit shelve for our canned goods.  I didn't think about all the fun in removing the canned goods from the old shelves and putting them back onto the new shelves.

1-13-11 - Joe's room.  From TV room to bedroom.

Wow!  It's amazing what a change has been made to that room.  I found the photos from when we added a XL twin for Joe to sleep in.  That room had never been painted.

The room was emptied of furniture, and then painted.  Joe and Jessie will be getting the couch here shortly.

We added some book shelves.  An old wicker chair was repainted to a wonderful coffee/chocolate brown.  Jane made a cushion for it from the excess fabric that she had left over from when she reupholstered the recliner this past fall.  There is a storage cube that makes a wonderful foot rest while you are sitting in the chair.

Jane crocheted the rug at the foot of the bed.  We have plans to add a flat screen TV to the room and turn the entertainment center into a basket dresser.  But, that is in stage two.

Mitch is going to make a headboard for the bed.  And he is going to make a small nightstand table that will hold a mosaic tray that we have.  All that is part of stage two also.

The quilt has a long story.  It was my first quilt.  It was made from Mitch’s old flannel shirts.  It was made to the specifications in the pattern.  Then hand quilted. When placed onto a king sized bed, it came exactly to the edge of the mattress. No overhang.  VERY important lesson learned here - always, always, measure the bed and compare the measurements BEFORE you make the quilt.  So, in this room we used a queen-sized bed and it works well.

Michelle and I went to Goodwill and found a bedskirt for $1.99.  At the same store we found flannel shams in a similar pattern for $1.99.  That was a great find!

We found some basket-material stars valances at Ten Thousand Villages.  The stars are a similar pattern to the quilt.  I sewed them into the curtains. The curtains are denim with white stripes in the pattern.  I wil try to take a photo one evening and post it later.

Ten Thousand Villages provides vital, fair income to Third World people by marketing their handicrafts and telling their stories in North America.

The wall colour is one of my favourites from Ralph Lauren.  It is called "Thunder Bay".  It looks like caramel to me.  The room looks so much bigger.  I think we did a great job with the room.

Now, one more room to go and we will have finally gotten all five bedrooms painted and complete.

A few more views of all the changes we made!

10.2010 - Mitch demonstrated at the Waverly Antique Tractor show.  He had a blast.  Jane and Robin pulled over a set of bleachers in front of Mitch.  Those bleachers stayed full and people asked really good questions both days!
